Welcome to Uttam Lab
We study the multifactorial and multi-scale spatial systems biology of diseased microenvironments

The Uttam Lab FOCUSES ON UNDERSTANDING THE multi-scale COMPLEXITY, HETEROGENEITY AND PLASTICITY OF DISEASED MICROENVIRONMENTS.
These include inflammed, pre-cancerous, cancerous and metastatic microenvironments. We study these microenvironments using computational and systems biology approaches and methods. We are interested in both  discovery-based and hypothesis-driven research to understand their multi-scale complexity, with the eventual goal of translating our biological insights to the clinic.

We have a hybrid wet/dry lab setup, and our work draws from diverse disciplines including cancer biology, immunology, molecular and cellular biology, bioimaging and image analysis, machine  learning and bioinformatics, and physics and mathematics.

About

RESEARCH (Remove this... put "Learn more" under the above paragraph

Our interest in cancer research lies in overcoming the twin challenges of characterizing and understanding this multi-factorial complexity of pre-cancerous lesions and cancerous tumors using a systems biology and biomedical engineering framework.

DEVELOPMENT (Remove this)

We are particularly interested in developing discovery-based and hypothesis-driven systems and methods to deconstruct the heterogeneity of tumor microenvironments of solid cancers, and help translate that understanding to the clinic.
